Problem Investigation

Problem Investigation

However carefully a skin management system is developed and maintained, there can be no guarantee that a skin problem will never arise. There are many reasons why this should be so, such as individual susceptibility, lack of data on chemical hazards, unforeseen exposure, etc.

What is important is that any problem is detected at an early stage (see the section on Health Surveillance) and correctly investigated so that appropriate action can be taken. The aim should always be to keep the worker in his job with no further skin problems and to ensure that others are not similarly affected.

We have a proven system for dealing with cases of suspected occupational skin problems. This involves workplace investigation, liaison with medical specialists (dermatologists, toxicologists, occupational physicians) where required, and collaboration with the employer and those affected in the development of an action plan to avoid further problems.

If you are currently experiencing what you believe may be an occupational skin problem, then call us to discuss how we can help:

•  Keep your worker at work with no recurrence of the skin problem

•  Avoid others being affected

•  Avoid expensive compensation claims

•  Ensure that similar problems do not occur in the future

Our experience has been that in several cases the assumption of an occupational cause has been made where none existed. This has resulted in considerable expense for the employer, loss of employment for the affected worker, legal costs etc. A correctly conducted investigation would have avoided this.
